I bought this for someone’s birthday, thinking it would be a fun little surprise, but I felt awkward once they opened it. The barrel looked smaller and a bit rougher than I had pictured, and the packaging didn’t really feel ready to give as a gift. There wasn’t any nice presentation or that little “wow” moment I was hoping for.

Then, when they tried to use it, the instructions weren’t very clear, so they ended up having to figure things out instead of just enjoying it right away. For the price, I expected it to feel more special and put together. I probably wouldn’t buy it again as a gift.

I ordered one barrel size, but a different one showed up. The funny part is the paperwork had the correct order on it, so I’m not really sure how it got packed wrong. I had to go back and forth over email, and there still wasn’t a quick fix. Not the end of the world, but definitely a frustrating experience

I was hoping for a better experience, but it took way longer than I expected and by the time it finally arrived or got finished I was already kind of frustrated, and then the quality was just okay, not terrible but definitely not good enough to make me feel like the wait was worth it.

The whole thing dragged on longer than it should have, and in the end, I still don’t feel like the problem was properly sorted out. I ordered a barrel from americanoakbarrel.com, it looked good when it arrived. The finish was nice and it seemed solid at first, but once I started the soaking process, I had a lot of water coming out around the seams.

It did slow down after a while, but it never fully sealed up for me. Maybe I just ended up with a bad one, but for the price, I expected it to hold better. If you’re thinking about getting one, I’d say give yourself plenty of time to test it before using it for anything important...

I was frustrated with how long the shipping took. The order ended up arriving late, and there wasn’t really a clear update along the way. It felt like every time I expected it to show up, the timeline shifted again, like the goalposts kept moving. Not the worst experience ever, but definitely annoying.

The barrel did show up, but the box looked rough when it got here. One corner was crushed, there didn’t seem to be much padding inside, and the tape looked like it was maybe starting to come open.
Nothing was actually broken as far as I can tell, so I guess that’s why I’m giving it 2 stars. Still, for what I paid, the packaging felt kind of careless, and I’m not really sure it would’ve survived much more handling.

The site is alright overall. I was trying to find the barrel sizes and, yeah, it took more clicking around than it probably should have. A couple pages loaded slow on my phone too, so that was a little annoying. Checkout was simple enough once I got there. Not a bad site or anything, just feels like it could be smoother and easier to get around.
